NOTA DE PROVA: 16,5 valores
92+ Rating - The Wine Advocate - Marque Squires - The 2013 Reserva Quinta de Pinhanço was sourced from Outeiro Vineyard, like the Dão red, but the blend and terroir are a bit different, said the winery, more Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alfrocheiro from a parcel closer to Pinhanços village. It was aged for 18 to 20 months (depending on lot) in French oak that was well used (three to five years). This is surprisingly deep and concentrated, making it a terrific value point in the lineup. Castro never loses sight of elegance and harmony, though, to go with a little more depth and power. Beautifully wrought, this finishes with waves of dry and serious fruit, some plums and black cherries. It remains persistent and gripping, but the tannins are always rather ripe. It tightens a bit with air, but it never gets hard. Its complex flavor profile is always intriguing. I was concerned that I was underrating it, but let's see how it evolves and be a bit conservative now. Drink this now if you must, but it will be better in a few years. It should hold rather well, too. If it actually hits the USA at the price indicated, it is the sleeper of the lineup. It is set for release in early October 2017.
